Write-up zu Firejail

User:Sakaki/Sakaki's EFI Install Guide/Sandboxing the Firefox Browser with Firejail

What is the most vulnerable application on your desktop? For most users, it is the web browser, since — in the picturesque phrase of Nick Congleton — it is "a large and complex piece of software with the ability to execute code, and it accesses the open Internet and executes just about everything that it comes into contact with".[1] Whilst selective-execution plug-ins such as NoScript can (and should[2][3][4]) be used to mitigate this risk, they cannot entirely remove it.

Firefox browser launches offline translation plugin, supports 13 languages

Mozilla launched a translation plugin Firefox Translations for Firefox Firefox browser that can work offline. In January 2019, Mozilla joined Project Bergamot, a consortium of the Universities of Edinburgh, Charles, Sheffield and Tartu, whose ultimate goal is to build a suite of neural machine translation tools that will enable Mozilla to develop a website translation plugin.

According to the official introduction, except for the first time to convert the text to a specific language, Firefox Translations needs to download some files, and the rest of the time uses local resources to process the translation, rather than sending the information to the data center for processing.

How to Install Firefox as a .Deb on Ubuntu 22.04 (Not a Snap)

In this guide I detail how to install Mozilla Firefox as a .deb package on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and not as a Snap app.

Ubuntu’s latest version includes Firefox as a Snap app by default. This Snap package is the only version of Firefox included ‘out of the box’. If you run apt install firefox on Ubuntu 22.04 it won’t install a .deb version as before, but instead fetch a transitional package that installs the Firefox Snap.

Which isn’t ideal if you don’t want to use the Firefox Snap package.

thanks for this advice. I think, most people here do not really care, what a fingerprint is and in these days is nearly impossible to escape from this.

But you are absolut right - I had much trouble, because in germany a portal with small adds wants my mobile-number to authorize. But, they only want to have it, nothing more in the backend or for your advertisements. Damned. After writing five mails, they explained, that i can't deny any single parts of their policy. All or nothing. Welcome in our new world of tracking. :/

In most cases, when the offer is "all or nothing," I choose to not participate, even though this often means less convenience. :-)
